The Corvallis Guitar Society was recently awarded a grant from the Benton County Cultural Coalition and is planning Corvallis’s first Guitar Festival for June 9 and June 10. Last week, the society signed internationally recognized guitarist Adam del Monte, who Classical Guitar Magazine called “one of the leading flamenco and classical guitarists/composers of his generation,” for the Saturday night concert. Friday night’s concert will feature Oregonian guitarist Jaxon Williams, who was recently awarded a Fulbright to study guitar in Seville, Spain.
The Corvallis Guitar Society meets monthly at 7 p.m. in Odd Fellows Hall, 223 SW 2nd Street, Corvallis. Meetings are free and open to the public. For more information about upcoming meetings, visit www.corvallisguitarsociety.
