Corvallis Geek Olympathon April 15

On Saturday, April 15, Mid-Valley Harvest presents the first Corvallis Geek Olympathon – an afternoon of geek-themed challenges for you and up to three of your best geek buds. The event will include over 20 challenges at 13 locations around Corvallis, all culminating in an epic trivia game at the Elks Lodge with music by local acoustic nerd rock band Megathruster.

What is a geek-themed challenge, you ask? Russell Standridge, lead organizer of the event and president of Mid-Valley Harvest, says challenges will range from scavenger hunts to specific task-based tests, with themes including Star Trek, Star Wars, Hot Wheels, and Lego.

Teams can include up to four people, and registration is $40 per team. At each event, teams can score a bronze, silver, or gold, and the top three teams will receive all kinds of enticing geek-themed prizes – four weekend passes to Eugene’s Comic Con and Game Con, 2 Towns pint glasses, and a board game from Passport Games, to name a few.

The Corvallis Geek Olympathon will benefit Mid-Valley Harvest, a nonprofit serving Linn and Benton counties. For three years, they have collaborated with local homeowners, orchards, and farms to gather fresh produce that would otherwise go to waste and give it to volunteers and local food banks.

Challenges run on Saturday, April 15 from 1 to 5 p.m. and trivia will start at 6 p.m. at the Elks Lodge. Register your team for the Corvallis Geek Olympathon by going to the Facebook event page, or register on the day of the event.
